MONSTER MOVE SEALS MATTY’S FIRST WIN

Matty Graham (GBR) Sean Walkinshaw Racing BRDC F4

Matty has taken his first F4 race win in the second race of this weekend’s meeting at Brands Hatch, becoming the 10th different driver to stand on the top step of the podium so far this season.

The former U18 World Karting Champion led home team mate Jack Barlow for a Sean Walkinshaw Racing 1-2, with pole sitter Raoul Hyman taking third.

Starting from 2nd place on the grid, Matty made a clean getaway before settling into a rythym behind pole-sitter Hyman and pegging the gap to the lead at around 0.5 seconds.

As the race entered it’s third lap, Graham mounted a committed attack into Paddock Hill Bend, taking the inside line and snatching the position despite a small brake lock up.

Graham, 17 from Edmundbyers, County Durham then proceeded to pull away from Hyman, eventually securing the win by over 2.3 seconds.

Speaking afterwards, Graham enthused: “From the start Raoul had a bit of a gap but I managed to catch him and make a move into Paddock Hill. I got a little lock up, but I guess the job was done so that was good! I think I was quite consistent on each lap and pulled out a little gap on each lap so by the end I had a nice comfortable gap.”
