FORMULA RENAULT NEC FOR 2014

MOTORLAND-TESTING-WORLD SERIES RENAULT

After an extensive winter testing programme, emerging racing talent Matty Graham is able to announce his 2014 race programme will be in the Formula Renault Northern European Cup.

Taking place across seven race meetings, Formula Renault NEC will see the 17 year old take the wheel of a sophisticated Tatuus FR2.0/13 on some of the continent’s most challenging circuits including five that currently host the Formula One world championship.

The NEC series begins at the home of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza over the weekend of April 11 – 13 with round two taking place on the Grand Prix layout at the Silverstone circuit six weeks later, before the championship heads to Germany for round three at the Hockenheimring.

The championship’s three blue riband events then follow with meetings supporting the Blancpain 24 hours of Spa Francorchamps on 25 – 27th July, the Gamma race day at Assen from August 1-3 and the Most Truck Prix in the Czech Republic on August 29 – 31.

The season finale will this year, take place around Germany’s Nurburgring on September 19 – 21.

NEC rounds provide competitors with an excellent amount of track time with two 45 minutes free practice sessions, two 20 minutes qualifying sessions and two or three 25 minute races each weekend.

Starting positions are determined as follows: start grid race 1: best qualifying time; start grid race 2: second best qualifying time; start grid race 3: result race 1, first six reversed.

With a test in a Formula Renault 3.5 car available at the end of the season for the top three in the championship, the 2014 NEC is sure to be keenly contested by Matty and the rest of the field.

Matty said; “After a good 2013 I was keen to test myself further up the motorsport ladder and NEC gives me that opportunity.  I will be racing an excellent car against some of the most talented young drivers in Europe so it will be a good test for myself”

He added; “After taking a very considered approach to my pre-season programme, I’ve settled with a good team, and we’re right on the pace.  Looking at the times, it is shaping up to be a massively competitive season that is going to serve up some exciting racing.”
