MATTY JOINS AVF FOR FORMULA RENAULT NEC

After announcing his 2014 campaign over the weekend, Matty is now pleased to confirm he will be contesting the Formula Renault NEC with the Spanish AV Formula team.

Based at the Circuit de Cataluña in Barcelona, AV Formula was founded by Spanish driver Adrian Valles and is intended to cover all aspects of motor racing.

From its state of the art factory to its highly advanced simulator, the team will provide Matty with an supremely professional environment in which to develop his skills and ability.

Matty will form part of a four car team in the NEC with reigning Formula Renault 1.6 NEC Champion Roy Geerts, Czech racer Josef Zaruba and Georgian youngster Nicholas Surguladze and is looking forward to getting the season under way on Friday.

He said, “I’m looking forward to being part of the AV Formula team for the season ahead.  We tested with them on a couple of occasions during the winter, including in the final test at Assen and they have really helped me get to grips with understanding the Tatuus FR2.0/13.

They are a very professional organisation who have a really good understanding on how to set these cars up and I am really excited about what we can achieve together.

Matty’s new team principal, Adrian Valles said, “I am pleased to welcome Matty to the team. We worked hard in the winter to improve the performance of our cars, and the results of the tests have given us reasons to go into this year’s NEC with Matty and Roy.  They are both ambitious drivers and have the experience and the pace to challenge for the title and we will grow them in the best way possible across the season.”
