RACE PREVIEW

FORMULA RENAULT 2.0 NEC PRIX-VIEW: ASSEN

Matty’s second race meeting in the space of a week takes place in the Netherlands this weekend as the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC forms part of the Gamma Race Day at the Assen TT circuit in the North of the country.

The Gamma race day is Europes largest combined discipline motorsport event with cars, karts and motorcycles all providing a show for an estimated 90,000 spectators at the famous circuit.

This weekend marks the start of the run in to the end of the season with only two meetings remaining following the completion of race two on Sunday and while hopes of a rookie championship victory may be ebbing away, Matty is still targeting a solid placing in the overall championship top ten.

On a track he was quick on in winter testing, the 18 year old North Easterner hopes a strong weekend will allow him to take a further stride towards that goal.

This weekend’s meeting sees a return to the normal Friday, Saturday, Sunday format with practice and qualifying on day one and a race on days two and three.

Running independently of the Blancpain Endurance series this weekend, fans away from the track will not have live broadcasts available but can follow via live timing, details of which will be published shortly here.
