SPA TREATMENT FOR CHAMPIONSHIP CHALLENGE IN BELGIUM
Matty heads to Belgium this weekend for rounds eight and nine of the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup and is hoping previous experience of the circuit will help him reignite his championship challenge.
Graham is currently 12th in the overall standings following a weekend to forget at the last meeting at Germany’s Hockenheimring.
In all three of the weekend’s races, the Stamfordham based driver was taken out of the running for strong results following collisions caused by other drivers, after starting from the mid grid following a qualifying session which exposed his lack of track time, after missing the four day pre-season test at the circuit in March.
Having raced at Spa already this season with his AV Formula team, the 18 year old is confident he can avoid a repeat of his Hockenheim woes by being at the sharp end of the field.
With this weekend’s races supporting the prestigeous Total 24hrs of Spa, the action gets underway a day early with two practice session taking place on Thursday.
Qualifying and race one take place on Friday while the final race of the weekend takes place on Saturday morning.
