TESTING ROUND UP

Test

Matty dusted off the cobwebs last week as he took to the track for the first time in nearly three months, while undertaking two day’s testing with Mark Burdett Motorsport at Silverstone.

Running in one of the Lincolnshire based team’s Tatuus FR2.0/13 Formula Renault single seaters around the full grand prix circuit, Matty spent two days with the team, turning in nearly 80 laps and lapping at a consistent pace throughout.

While very much an exercise in keeping his car control and race craft sharp over the winter, as plans and funding for 2015 are secured, Matty ended the test within three tenths of a second of the fastest Formula Renault time of the test and continued to show the excellent tyre management skills that were a hallmark of his 2014 season.

Speaking after the test, Matty said: “It was good to get back out in the car and I want to thank Mark and the team for a good two days.”

“It took a little while to get fully comfortable in the car, but once I was there, I was quite pleased with how I improved my times and how the team worked with me to get the most out of the car in changeable conditions.”

“We have a lot of work to do to enable me to race in 2015 and continue forward in my aims to race at the highest level but we’ll be doing everything we can over the winter to make sure I am on a grid next year”
