BRITISH GT – QUALIFYING EFFORTS DRAW 4TH ROW STARTS

Quli Report

Matty will start both of Monday’s British GT races at Oulton Park circuit from the fourth row of the grid after he and team mate Jack Mitchell found themselves chasing time in Saturday’s qualifying sessions at the Cheshire track.

A best lap of 1:45.204 from Matty in the first qualifying session will see the Macmillan Racing Aston Martin start eighth in race one, while Jack Mitchell’s 1:44.308 took seventh on the race two grid for the number 42 car.

It was a frustrating session for the pair, as they pushed to what they felt was the maximum of themselves and the car, yet found themselves over a second off the pole position mark in the respective sessions.

It is however Monday where the points are awarded, and after once again lapping at a consistent pace over the two practice sessions on Saturday morning, both drivers remain confident they can take strong results from the races.

Speaking post qualifying, Matty said: “It was a pretty tough qualifying, I felt was really pushing the car and that I was pretty committed going into the chicanes and the fast corners but the times weren’t showing the sort of reward I was expecting.

“We’ve got a bit to work on, we’re both finding bit of understeer in the mid to high speed corners, but the race pace has been quite fast all year so hopefully we can solve the issues and use that pace to get a good result.”

The first of Monday’s two British GT races goes green at 11:15, with the second starting at 15:30 in the afternoon.
