RACE PREVIEW

BRITISH GT SEASON GETS SPA TREATMENT

The formidable Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium is Matty’s destination this weekend, as the British GT championship makes its annual pilgrimage to mainland Europe.

A highly demanding circuit nestled in the forests of the Ardennes region, racing has taken place since its inauguration in the 1920s, with the Spa Francorchamps of today a four and a quarter mile monster, that takes in some of the most challenging features of the 15km original.

From the legendary uphill blast that is Eau Rouge and Raidillon, to the fearsome, flat out, left hand sweeper of Blanchimont and the blisteringly fast double apex left hand turn of Pouhon, the circuit is one that tests drivers to ability to the limit.

It is a circuit which Matty showed strongly on back in 2013, when competing in the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC championship with the AV Formula team and is one that he is eager to return to and challenge in his Aston Martin Vantage.
