MATTY CONTINUES TO PERFORM IN EUROCUP COLLECTIVE TESTS

Matty Graham continued to stake his claim for a drive in the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup after another productive day of testing at the Circuit de Cataluña in Spain.

Returning to the home of the Spanish Grand Prix for the third, two day, collective test of the winter, Matty spent the early part of the morning getting reacquainted with the flow and rhythm of the circuit where he made his first run in the Tatuus FR2.0/13 back in October.

Quickly back up to speed, Matty spent most of the session working through a programme of set up work, before putting himself to the top of the standings with a time of 1:44.742 mid way through the three and a half hours.

By the end of the morning, Matty found himself third out of 26 and also noticeably ahead of a host of more experienced racers.

In the afternoon, Matty once again ran strongly in the top ten throughout the session and while he improved on his morning time by a tenth of a second, he ended the day in 12th place overall, a placing he felt comfortable with, knowing most of those ahead of him had switched to fresh tyres as soon as they were able.

“I’ve had a good day today and I was particularly happy with how I performed this morning and to end the session right at the sharp end”, said Matty

“The start of the day was all about settling in and getting reacquainted with the circuit and once that was done, the times were fairly consistent.”

Looking ahead to the second day on Tuesday, Matty is confident there is more to come from him in terms of lowering the lap time.

He said; “I’m looking forward to take a new set of Michelin’s tomorrow, as there is definitely a few tenths of a second I can shave off around the lap, particularly in the final sector.
