NEWCASTLE UTD STARS CALL TO KICK OFF ROUND 2 PREP

NUFC-KNE-01

Matty enjoyed a return to his roots last Wednesday, taking on members of the Newcastle United first team squad in a social race at Karting North East’s Warden Law complex.

Taking time out of his preparations for the next round of the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC, Matty was invited to join Massadio Hadara, Davide Santon and Moussa Sissoko at the 1.2 km circuit.

99c225ebc08c14ba5816ecd69672b5d9 As a former CIK-FIA U18 World Karting Champion, Matty sportingly offered to start from  the back of the 12 strong grid, but as the race got underway, his natural racing instincts  kicked in as he cut his way through the field to win.

After taking the top step of the podium post-race, Matty gave his trophy to a guest of Hadara  as a memento to take back to France.

Matty said: “As a big Newcastle United fan, I was thrilled to be invited along for the afternoon by the lads for what was a very fun afternoon.  It was good to get back out on a track that I’ve raced on and enjoyed good performances in the past and to have a bit of social competition ahead of the next round of the NEC”

Matty’s next race meeting is from May 23-25 at Silverstone for the second round of the NEC.
